The BerleyPro team is heading back to New Zealand in April and May for the last few trips of the 2023 season. There are a few openings on these trips that are sure to get filled by a few lucky anglers that want to get a taste of what New Zealand offshore kayak mothership fishing is all about.

Marty, Stephen and Captain Aaron have built a bullet-proof program that will surely satisfy any kayak angler that is keen on getting whooped by some aggressive \’kingies\’ and \’snappah\’. This trip is an adventure… everything from the sheer beauty of New Zealand, the incredibly clear waters, the abundant fishery and the full fishing program that includes local guides and quality Hobie kayaks rigged for success.

You need to bring your rods, reels, PFD, VH1 handheld radio and some tackle… everything else from kayak to localized Catch fishing tackle that will surely get bit will be provided by the team.

Our first New Zealand trip of 2023 has come and gone. The incredible group of anglers had an experience of a lifetime with regards to fishing and weather. Mother nature was angry and almost ruined the party… BUT she didn\’t have the last laugh. The team brushed off the bad weather and threw down with the yellowtail kingfish and snapper and pulled off the unlikely after what seemed to be a doomed trip.

We have a couple of spots open on our last New Zealand trip of 2023 season. This means that a couple lucky people can snag the last opportunity to fish with the one and only Marty Gittens and Stephen Tapp in one of the most beautiful places that I have had the pleasure of visiting.

This is also our last trip at the $3,999 price point. We learned a few things this season that we have to address to ensure the viability of these trips. We are investigating adding trip insurance into the cost of the trip to ensure that all parties are protected in the event of un-fishable weather.

In the coming days and weeks we will be releasing the 2024 New Zealand trip schedule with multiple dates from Feb – May \’24. This is the best time to snag your trip of a lifetime before others do. We have multiple parties circling these dates already which means we are expecting to sell out quickly.

The last time we went to New Zealand… something happened to the world. I forgot the name of it… something \’vid. Well FUCK COVID and the horse it rode in on. It is time to resume normal operations… well, a new normal.

This wasn\’t accomplished by ourselves… this was not done in silo. This is 2+ years of work between two incredible teams Fish Village and BerleyPro… but we feel uncomfortable even saying that… this is really the mad science behind the legend of Marty Gittens. He is the guy that connects all of the dots, fills gaps and makes this trip so easy for us to plan for. Logistics for trips like this is not easy… so bravo to Marto for his persistence! We are so incredibly fortunate to work with Marty and call him our friend. Through his incredible commitment to the kayak fishing community we have created a path for Americans and other international travelers to join Marty and Captain Aaron of Bounty Hunter Charters on one of the most exotic and equally unique bucket list kayak fishing destinations on planet Earth.

We ain\’t playing no more… it is time to start sending people over to New Zealand to experience what we have experienced ourselves. So what does that mean?

The official entry requirement for ANYONE entering New Zealand is that you must be fully vaccinated. If you are not vax\’d, you have to go through a very long and costly protocol that will almost certainly result in your decision to not go on this trip. So for that reason, you must be vax\’d. This is not a political statement or a stance… it is just the reality and we cannot afford to not be 100% transparent about the expectations of this trip. New Zealand took the hardest stance on protecting their citizens when compared to any other country. We have to play by their rules if we want to fish for giant snapper and even bigger yellowtail kingfish.

We are working through the weekend to make this trip available to book by early next week (most likely by Tuesday 9/6). Until then… you are just going to have to wait! Brutal… I know.
